Pictures, ITBS Testing, Road Work, etc

Hello all,

I hope everyone is off to a good start this week. I LOVE the weather. It looks like we should have a few more GREAT days! I wanted to update everyone on some upcoming events in our school.

Pictures
Just a reminder that we will have school pictures tomorrow, Wednesday, October 6th.

Athletics
Next week we will conclude our fall sports; volleyball, football, and cross country. The week of October 18th we will start our next athletic seasons; girl's basketball and wrestling.

Road Work
As many of you probably already know, some fairly major road work is now occurring along WestMarengo Road (the road in front of our middle and high schools). Please plan on, up to, a 15 minute delay when coming to visit one of our schools.

ITBS Testing
We are quickly approaching the start of the Iowa Tests of Basic Skills. As always, we will encourage allof our students to do their best. We will begin testing on Monday, October 18th. Below is some more information on the ITBS testing process.

Each year CCA CSD administers the Iowa Tests of Basic Skills in grades two through eight and the Iowa Tests of Educational Development in grades nine through eleven. These tests are one measure the district uses in combination with other sources to help improve instruction. Additionally, results of these assessments provide some of the data that is required for state and federal accountability reports and individual results can assist in identifying student growth and progress. Please talk with your child (ren) about these tests and join us in encouraging each child to do his/her very best.

The following subtests will be given: Reading Comprehension (2-11), Math Concepts and Estimation (2-8), Math Problem Solving and Data Interpretation (2-8), Math Concepts and Problem Solving (9-11), Science (4 and 8), Analysis of Science Materials (9-11).

If you would like for your child to take additional subtests, such as spelling, computation, usage, maps and diagrams, reference materials, the complete tests will be given on Wednesday, October 20th and October 27th beginning at 1:30 PM at the middle school. The testing will conclude at 3:30 both days. If you would like your child to take additional subtests, please contact Lauri Tow, secretary, or me by email or phone.

Have a great week!

Brad
