Veteran's Day, Parent/Teacher Conferences, and more...

Hello,

Veteran's Day Assembly
On Thursday (yesterday) of this week we hosted a special Veteran's Day breakfast and assembly at our middle school. The event was organized by our 8th grade social studies teacher, Ms. Kim Meller.

We were lucky enough to have over 125 veteran's, family members, and community members in attendance. When our middle school student body and staff joined the assembly we had well over 550 individuals participating in the assembly!

The event included a solo by one of our middle school students, speeches by a couple of our middle school students, playing of the National Anthem by three of our students, presenting our Veteran's in attendance with a plaque or flag, and a slide show set to music featuring many of our Veteran's. For many in attendance this was a very moving experience. I had one Veteran tell me that this was the first time in 40 years that someone had told him thanks!

We had many people give of their time and money to contribute to this wonderful event. We had several businesses give products for us to use for the breakfast. We had several community members donate food and drink and we had many students and parents give their time to help set up and clean up after the event.

A huge thank you goes to Ms. Kim Meller. She is the only individual that I will single out as she was the primary person that planned the event. To list others would not be fair on my part as I'm sure I would forget some that helped.

Overall this was a very moving experience for me and I'm so proud of our students, staff, parents, Veteran's, and community members. The Clear Creek Amana pride was AWESOME!

Parent/Teacher Conferences
This coming Monday, November 15th, is a no school day for students. The middle school teachers will be available for Parent/Teacher Conferences from 5-8 pm. The 6th grade team will be in the library. The 7th and 8th grade teams will be in the main gymnasium. Please come out and meet your child's core teaching staff.

Students going to Washington DC next summer will be offering childcare on Monday evening for parents attending conferences at the Middle School. This is a free will donation. Conferences run from 5-8 p.m. Children can be dropped off and picked up in room 105 (Ms. Sauer’s room).
