Week of March 7, 2011

Good Afternoon,

I hope it has been a good week for everyone. We had another busy week at the middle school with professional development on Monday, a swim meet Tuesday, 7th grade field trip on Wednesday, and today we had a celebration in the gym to celebrate achieving two of our three our Iowa Tests of Basic Skills goals. It's amazing the amount of activities we are able to accomplish in a week!

7th Grade Field Trip
On Wednesday our 7th grade students boarded three different buses and were dropped off at different job sites for workplace learning visits. The job sites were; Integrated DNA Technology, TruArt, Procter and Gamble, Hygienic Lab, and the University of Iowa Hydroscience and Engineering. The job site visits were scheduled by Kirkwood Community College and the Workplace Learning Connection.

ITBS Celebration
Today, Friday, we celebrated the fact that we achieved two of our three Iowa Tests of Basic Skills goals. We achieved our goals in math and science and fell just short of reaching our goal in reading. Based on reaching our goals our students were entertained as one of our teachers, Mr. Steve Carey, volunteered to have his head shaved. Additionally the students will enjoy an afternoon at school watching a movie and eating popcorn. Thanks to all of the students for their great efforts this year.

Trimester 2 Report Cards
The student report cards for Trimester 2 will be mailed home next week. If you have any questions or concerns about your child's report card, please contact your child's adviser, teacher, or me. Thank you.
