Week of February 28, 2011

Good Afternoon,

We have had an interesting week at our middle school. We have had an increased number of student absences this week related to illnesses. Hopefully we have been through the worst of the flu and things can get back to normal next week. A 3 day weekend for the students should help.

Solo Contest
Don't forget, the middle school solo concert is tomorrow morning at the middle school. The contest begins at 8 AM.

7th Grade Field Trip
Next Wednesday our 7th grade students will be taking a field trip to Iowa City. The students will be visiting different workplace sites to learn about the world of work. The students will be split into groups and visit the following businesses; Integrated DNA Technology, State Hygienic Lab at the University of Iowa, Procter and Gamble, TruArt, and the University of Iowa Hydorscience and Engineering. Each student will visit one of the job sites. We hope that this will be a great opportunity for our students.

Track
As we have already completed boy's basketball, and will soon complete our swimming season, our student-athletes are beginning to prepare for track season. Typically we have 100 or more 7th and 8th graders involved in track. The head boy's track coach is Mr. Eric Glanz. The head girl's track coach is Mr. Brice Morris.

Drama Production
The middle school students continue their preparation work for the upcoming middle school drama production. The production will be held on Friday, March 11th. The play is under the direction of middle school teacher, Ms. Jessica Sauer.
