Summer Update, June 23, 2010

Hello,

I hope everyone is getting a chance to have a little down time this summer. The weather and rain have been kind of ridiculous. Hopefully after today we will have a few dry days ahead.

I have been finding some things to keep me busy the last couple weeks in the office. I wanted to update you all on some some of those items.

First of all, for the most part, Mr. Bandy has completed the schedules for next year. There are still a couple of minor things that Mr. Bandy needs to finish up, but overall he is nearly done. We hope to mail out schedules for next year in July.

School Day Information
During the 2010.2011 school year the Clear Creek Amana Middle School will begin the day at 8:15 AM with home room time. This is a time that our students will get organized for the school day. On Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday students will report to their 1st period class for home room. On Wednesday mornings the students will report to their advisory teacher's classroom at 8:15 AM. The school day officially begins each day at 8:30 AM.

Clear Creek Amana Middle School Class Offerings

All 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students in our school take five core classes; math, science, social studies, reading, and 21st century writing. The core classes are approximately 55 minutes in length.

Additionally all of our middle school students also participate in a physical education/health class that meets every other day throughout the year. All students also have the opportunity to participate in choir and/or band. Choir classes meet on A days and band classes meet on B days. These class periods are 45 minutes long.

All middle school students also participate in exploratory classes as well. Each student participates in three exploratory classes throughout the year. The exploratory classes meet every other day opposite their physical education/health class. Again, these classes are 45 minutes in length.

The exploratory classes offered during the 2010.2011 school year are listed below by grade.

6th grade- keyboarding, life skills, art

7th grade- technology, life skills, art

8th grade- technology, life skills, art, project lead the way, industrial technology (students will take 3 of the 5 classes)
